Sir Alec Reed opened the first Reed office in Hounslow, West London on 7th May 1960. In the early 1960s, he pioneered specialist recruitment services, a move which fundamentally changed the UK and then global recruitment markets.
Today, Reed is the largest family-owned recruitment company in the world and has been recognised as the number one recruitment Superbrand every year since 2000. We have grown organically, rather than by acquisition, and we are committed to ensuring that people are at the heart of everything we do.

Charity and the environment
18% of Reed is owned by the Reed Foundation, which has provided seed funding for a number of charities including Ethiopiaid and Womankind. Since being founded by Sir Alec Reed in 2007, the Big Give has helped to raise £82 million for many charities.
In 2005, we officially became one of the first international Carbon Neutral recruitment companies, and we have maintained that status since.
